This was more difficult than I thought it would be

  1. What song do you sing in the shower?
I don't usually sing in the shower. When I was a kid and my mom still bathed me we always sang "Sing" by The Carpenters. I sometimes sing it to Porter in the bath now. I wonder if she knows that.
  2. What's your best karaoke number?
I remember doing a group karaoke number in high school (don't remember the song) but that was the first and last time it happened. I'm not sure why though, I love to sing.
  3. Favorite Christmas/Holiday song?
Ok, I don't officially 'hate' Christmas music but I certainly don't love it, or listen to it more than I have to. Laura gave us a beautiful Christmas collection this past year and I truly enjoyed that. I love, love, love Oh Holy Night and Ave Maria sung by Pavarotti and every year I know it's really Christmas when I hear "Wonderful Christmas Time" by Paul McCartney.
  4. Best song for getting psyched up?
I love AFI, or did, before every 14 year old girl found out about them.
  5. Best melancholy, rainy day mood song?
Most anything from Hayden and Lost Cause by Beck
  6. What song did/will you dance to at your wedding?
We didn't have a dance but I think both Neil and I would tell you our song is Embers and Envelopes by Mae. It got us through a lot.
  7. Best breakup song?
Carried Away by Hayden - "...maybe you could tell him that from the day you met him you've been liking him less and less..." I had a relationship I should have used that on.
  8. What song takes you back to High School?
Whew, there's a lot - my favorite is probably Drive by Incubus. Sharlee, Czar and I would steal a car during our spare and rip around town listening to that song over and over.
  9. Do you sing a certain song to your kids?
When I was pregnant with Porter I would sing songs to my belly, my favorite being "Mother Nature's Son" by the Beatles. I still sing it almost every night to him and he giggles when I start the doo doo dooo doo part.
  10. What song makes you cry?
Oh, there's a few in there, mostly attached to my Neily - Daisy by Ben Lee probably made me cry more than any song ever has.
  11. What song do you want played at your funeral?
I can't really say I've thought about it.
  12. What song do you wish would start playing when you walked in a room?
Hmm, the only thing appropriate would be Michelle by the Beatles I guess, that or It's Getting Hot in Here... bahahaa!
  13. What's a song you know every word to by heart?
My Way by Usher - even the rap - I'm so awesome.
  14. What was the first 8-track/cassette tape/CD that you owned?
What's the Story Morning Glory by Oasis - I've still got it and still think it's brilliant.
  15. What's your work-out jam?
    I'm sorry, what's a work-out?
  16. Best road trip song/album?
Guster - the entire collection. They go on every trip, I'm pretty sure it's the first thing packed.
  17. Ever had a song dedicated to you?
Yeah actually. Jon Vornbrock (of Atrophy Manuscript fame) dedicated a version of "Paint it Black" to me during a show once, cause he said "she likes old stuff like that."
  18. What song gets stuck in your head that you can't stand?
Something lame from the radio probably.
  19. Favorite classical piece?
The theme to Somewhere in Time, composed by John Barry. It's absolutely beautiful and haunting. It makes me think of my dad. That's another one that can make me cry.
  20. No. 1 favorite artist? The Beatles obviously.
  21. No. 1 favorite album?
There is no way on this earth I can answer that. I can narrow it down to a few favorites but I still don't feel good about singling anyone out - The Juliana Theory - Emotion is Dead, Morcheeba - Big Calm, Guster - Lost and Gone Forever, Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's and even though it's a compilation I think the soundtrack to Garden State is genius.... Oh I don't even feel right about naming those few, there's many.
  22. No. 1 favorite song?
That's constantly changing - as of late it's been American Boy by Estelle/Kanye (Porter and I watch the music video), I love Cathedrals by Jump Little Children, the Scientist by Coldplay - anything that makes me think of my Neil or good times with friends.
  23. What's the last song you listened to?
Careful by Guster - I think. I just had my iTunes running through their collection and I think that's where it ended.
Just so ya know I could do this all again tomorrow and have completely different answers. As George Martin once said if you hung me upside down you'd have music notes coming out my ears.
